Play Time

A couple of weeks ago, one of our friend who we played Pickelball with and spent some evenings partying around camp fires, died. He was 62 years old.
He passed away while on vacation in a “Sunshine” destination. That day, he played tennis with his wife and another couple. He complimented her as she played really well. They showered and took a nap. When she woke up, she could hear him breathing with difficulties. She called for help but they could not save him.
She said he was happy about his day and their holiday and their plan for the future. They had time to say goodbye!
Unknown to me, he had some serious medical issues. He never complained about it, he lived his life and was in shape. He played pickleball with us and was enjoying himself.
I think when my time comes, that would be the way I’d want to go, have fun in the day, have time to say goodbye to the ones I love. There can't be any regrets.
I always thought that playing was the number one priority. There has never been anyone on their death bed who said: “I wish I could have spent more time at the office...”
Even when I was working, I would incorporate lots of humor in my day. Why not? You can be seriously working and enjoying yourself at the same time!
Life is just too short to be serious about it!
Speaking of playing, 2 years ago, in the fall, we bought a small boat. It was too cold so we didn't tried it right away and we stored it under our home for the winter.
The following summer, my wife decided that getting radio-therapy was more important than going out in the sun... so we left the boat under the house for the whole summer.
In the past 6 months, every time we went to Walmart or Costco or …, I would always check out electrical motors for our boat.
Now that the weather is getting warmer and there are no more restrictions, I was thinking about launching the boat on its maiden voyage.
So my priority number one was to buy a motor. When I told my wife we needed to go shopping for one, she told me we had a brand new one which we had bought on sale the previous year! I totally forgot! I have been searching for one, at a good price, the whole time and we already had one just under the house! And I’m the one who put it there!
Memory, you know what they say about it... can you just remind me?

I'm the small guy in the back, in the front is my "Big" brother in law. It's the first time in 37 years that I'm lighter than him. I'm .6 lb less than him. He doesn't know it yet, but he is going to hear a lot about it in the next decades LOL

  5. Have as much fun as you can! Enjoy life, feel gratitude for what you have. I remember someone famous (don't recall who now) was asked on his deathbed if he had any regrets, and he thought about it is and said there were some girls that he could have kissed but didn't!

  6. I'm so sorry about your friend. It's nice that his last few days were happy ones. I agree completely. Life is too short to be serious all the time. We must relax and play and enjoy. To create wonderful memories and leave peacefully.

Enjoy the boat. Wives are terrific at remembering things!
