No Flossing Way

Please if you could, I would appreciate if all of you has some positive thoughts send my way at 10:00 this morning. I am going to need a lot of encouragement; I have my dentist annual appointment!
I won't pull out this appointment from my calendar, it's too late, I have to give the office a week notice or I will have to pay fees which, for me, would be as painful.
It's not the first time I sit in that chair, I'm 56 years old, been there, done that, hate it every times. To me it's like pulling teeth (not literally, you know).
Every time I get drill... “Richard did you floss?” they know the answer, why the heck they ask the question?
“I forgot to floss 364 days, I just remember this morning, did I do a good job?” will I answer again. Can't they write that on my file and let go of the guilt trip?
Do you have any teeth ache?” I will be ask.
YES I DO, every year after my check up, don't know why, maybe if you didn't poke all over with those scissor like instrument, I would be ok!”
It has been 3 years since we took your x-ray, we are going to do them this morning.”
WRONG! I remembered clearly last year sitting in the x-ray booth, while the x-ray-er hiding behind a thick wall, was buzzing my face with rays. I still can feel the square plate they put in your mouth and that you have to keep from moving by biting something that I can only describe as piece of tasteless plastic. I don't argue with them, they are my master. Why don't they take passport picture at the same time, this is one place where I don't smile ever.
Enough about me, what are you going to do today? Root canal anyone?

  1. I hate the dentist!!!! I also floss one out of 365 days a year....but when the dentist haggles me about it. I tell him to shut up...it's job security for him!!! Shuts his mouth real quick!!!

    1. Please take it easy... this is not a "hate" blog! LOL I will probably use the "job security" line at some point, thank you :)

  2. I hate the dentist too! I always leave with an inferiority complex because they yell at me for not brushing or flossing well enough, when I swear that I do.

    1. Don't wait Rachel get those teeth fixes... if not for you, think about your dentist, maybe he/she need a new boat, you wouldn't want to be the reason someone doesn't achieve their dream, right?

  4. I actually do floss every day. And dentist obviously didn't believe me, which made me mad. Since we moved six months ago, I guess I need to find a new dentist soon... next year.... sometime.

    Hope your appointment goes well.

    1. This sound like a great advice, are you sure you are not in with my dentist?

I got x-rays, I bleed everywhere, I had tears coming out of my eyes by the bucket full and will get some repair done in a month. But I got a new tooth brush!

  9. I am not a fan of having an x-ray done on my back teeth. My dentist has to put a piece in my mouth instead of taking the x-ray from the outside because my mouth is small. My family finds it funny that I have a small mouth since I am loud at times. I hope your dentist appointment went well.

  10. I get asked that same question each time I go to the dentist, and during the last visit they explained to me how they know if you answer truthfully or not. It isn't so much the buildup on your teeth; it is the bleeding as a result. If you floss every day, you build up a resistance to bleeding and the dentist can see that instantly.
